This park is one of the most historically significant parks in the Tennessee State Parks system and serves as a valued public space for the surrounding community and beyond. The park preserves an important Civilian Conservation Corps legacy, interprets African American history, and connects visitors to the natural, cultural, and archaeological resources of southwest Memphis. It includes more than 1,000 acres, along with trails, picnic areas, athletic and recreational facilities, camping, and public gathering spaces.
This position requires candidates to possess a bachelor’s degree, with preference given to those with degrees in natural or historic resource-based management or Park and Recreation Management, and three years full-time professional park and conservation experience, of which one year must be supervisory. Additional education or experience may be substituted for the required experience or education, respectively, on a year-for-year basis. This position requires a state law enforcement commission recognized by the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy. A selected candidate who is not commissioned will be required to successfully complete the academy as a condition of continued employment.
