GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Division of State Parks, Historic Sites, Trails, and Outdoor Recreation is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking individual to help guide and manage the Division in all areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.

  • Plan and implement personnel resources, policy, goal setting, programs, budget, marketing, and operating procedures for the Division of State Parks, Historic Sites, Outdoor Recreation, and Trails.
  • Prepare, monitor, and administer the division biennium operating budgets of over $42 million.
  • Research, develop, and implement the strategic goals and guidelines, objectives, and performance measures, in coordination with other divisions to ensure goals of the agency are met.
  • Resolve critical problems and conflicts within the division and agency.
  • Provide vision and planning development for the division.
  • Serve as co-chair of senior management team meetings.
  • Direct, instruct, and counsel subordinate personnel who are supervisors.
  • Write policy and operating procedures for the division.
  • Review proposed legislation and testify before legislative committees.
  • Represent department, division, and agency at the local, state, regional, and national levels.

Qualifications


PREFERENCES:


Preference may be given to a proven leader with 10 or more years of experience in the management of parks and/or outdoor recreation


KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of State of Wyoming systems including budgeting, purchasing, capital construction, and personnel.
  • Skill in developing and implementing strategic goals.
  • Skill in problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of the legislative process.
  • Skill in public speaking.
  • Skill in writing policies and operating procedures.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:


Work is typically performed in an office environment with some required state and national travel.
